Staff
- Diana Burroughs, Executive Director
- Diana holds a Ph.D. from Princeton University, where she was the recipient of a Domestic Fulbright for four years. She co-founded PENCIL, a New York-based non-profit whose mission is to encourage private-sector involvement in public education. She most recently served as the Manhattan Borough Deputy to the New York City Schools Chancellor.
- Jake Slovis, Director of Programs
- Jake obtained his bachelors degree from New York University where he studied Social Studies Education with a concentration in European history. Before joining TeachersCount, Jake student taught 6th grade world history and 10th grade humanities.
Volunteers
- Patricia Lee Stotter
- Patty is an Emmy Award-winning composer and writer who has worked in television, film, theater and interactive media. From Sesame Street to HBO/PBS documentaries, independent features to plays and musicals, Patty is all about the right voice at the right moment.
- Time Lietch
- Tim Leitch was born in Los Angeles traveled around the country with his musical family and career musician father. His mother pointed his attention to bossa nova and father to jazz and classical. His early training came from private drum and bugle corp but by 17 he had studied with Joe Pass, Art Pepper, and played with jazz greats Don Ellis and Ralph Humphrey. Soon followed by playing with seminal LA punk band Fear, he moved to Berlin to play with avant-guard singer Nina Hagen. To hone his digital recording skills, Tim moved to NYC where he performed with Dick Dale and partnered with Emmy award wining composer Patricia Strotter. His own Sol-I "Leap Before You Look" album earned him electronica album of the year from Just Plain Folks independent music awards . Tim also produced the first Red Hot Chili Peppers recordings that earned them a deal with EMI. When his daughter was born, Tim moved to Portland, Oregon where he now resides.
- Tawana Jackson
- Tawana is currently an undergraduate at New York University’s Silver School of Social Work. Before becoming a part of the TeachersCount, Tawana volunteered with various organizations in the New York area.
- Tim Hartman, Volunteer Coordinator
- Tim graduated from Penn State University in 2001 where he majored in Finance and Economics and minored in Art History. Since graduation, he has done business development and marketing work in the information-technology industry. Tim works with leading Fortune 100 companies world-wide on various data exchange projects. He currently lives in New York City where he also works with New York Cares and multiple corporate community outreach groups.
- Erin Imgruth
- After serving as a public school teacher in Westchester, New York, for 14 years, Erin is now completing work for her EdD (Doctorate in Education) at Columbia University. Erin has participated in multiple education-related projects and programs throughout her career. She also graduated cum laude with an M.S. in Education from SUNY Oneonta.
- Allen Kay, marketing consultant to TeachersCount
- Allen is responsible for the overall look of the “Behind Every Person is a Fabulous Teacher” campaign as well as our website design. He is CEO of Korey Kay & Partners advertising and one of the most awarded Creative Directors in advertising. The agency gained its reputation by putting companies on the map. Virgin Atlantic Airways, Comedy Central and Celebrity Cruises are among them. Allen is a Graduate Board Member of the AdCouncil and AAAA (American Association of Advertising Agencies), where, when Chairman of their New York Board of Governors, he created the annual "Unthinkable Ideas" new media conference. Allen was a founding member of America's Promise-Colin Powell's alliance for youth, spent eleven years on the steering committee of ABNY (Association for a Better New York), is a Director of YES, Inc. (Youth Education through Sports), and is a member of the Advisory Board of PENCIL, an organization that works to improve New York City's public schools. Allen also served for many years as a consultant to the Marketing Board of the New York Philharmonic. The "Write Your Own Ticket" program was one of his many contributions.
- Clint Morgan and Wendy Combs, Morgan Design, Inc.
- Morgan Design, based in New York City, is a marketing communications design firm. The company designs websites as well as the full range of print communications, from brochures and newsletters to print ads and presentation kits. A particular focus of their work is the design of annual reports and the design and development of corporate and brand identities. Morgan Design brings a concept-oriented approach to every project they undertake but the solutions they present are always individualized to the needs of the particular client.
- Marina Fragoso Senra, photographer
- Marina attended the Northfield Mount Hermon School and NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, where in 2006 she received her BFA in Photography and Imaging. While at NYU Marina interned at Blindspot Magazine and Annie Leibovitz's studio. She follows her camera around NYC and around the world, having traveled throughout South America, Asia, and Europe. Other clients include City Search, Biz Bash, NBTV, Young Indies llc and Van Wyck and Van Wyck events.
- Harry Zernike, photographer
- Since graduating from RISD, Harry Zernike has worked as an architect, furniture maker and photographer in New York City. He won a 2001 Photo District News Photo Annual award for photojournalism and the 2002 ICP/Johnson and Johnson Traveling Fellowship. Harry has generously donated his photographic talents to TeachersCount.
